In just one year under the administration of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Edo State is witnessing a renewed sense of trust and transformation in governance particularly in its rural communities.
At the heart of this transformation is the Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (Edo-CSDA), which has implemented 59 micro-projects across the state under the administration’s Project SHINE initiative , an agenda focused on sustainability, human capital development, infrastructure, economic growth, and empowerment.
Speaking on the Agency’s first-year performance, Ms. Ivie Idahosa, General Manager of Edo-CSDA, said the projects reflect the government’s commitment to taking development closer to the people.
She said, “Our work over the past year has been guided by a simple but powerful goal to make governance tangible for communities that have long felt left behind. Through Project SHINE, we have been able to restore confidence in public institutions by ensuring that development truly reaches those who need it most.”
According to her, the 59 projects span key sectors including education, health, water supply, electrification, and socio-economic empowerment.
“We completed five education projects that are now providing more conducive learning environments for hundreds of children,” she explained.
“Twelve socio-economic projects are boosting local livelihoods; two water schemes have brought clean water to thousands of residents; 38 electrification projects have increased productivity for traders and artisans; and two health sector projects are improving access to quality healthcare.”
Ms. Idahosa noted that these projects are already transforming daily life in communities across Edo State, improving living standards and rekindling faith in the power of good governance.
“These interventions are not just infrastructure they are catalysts for human progress,” she added. “They show that with transparency, collaboration, and community involvement, government can work for everyone.”
As the Okpebholo-led administration enters its second year, Edo-CSDA plans to consolidate on these gains, expand its outreach to more communities, and deepen its impact through participatory development.
“We are building on a solid foundation,” Ms. Idahosa affirmed. “Our focus now is to scale up what works ensuring that no community is left behind in Edo State’s journey toward inclusive and sustainable growth.”
She congratulated Senator Monday Okpeholo and Rt. Hon Dennis Idahosa , the Deputy Governor, for what she described as “one year of purposeful and people-centered leadership.”
“These first 365 days have rekindled the hope of Edo people,” Ms. Idahosa said. “We are proud to be part of an administration that is redefining governance through community-driven development.”
