The Edo State Government, through the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), in collaboration with development partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, is gearing up to launch the second round of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) Vaccination Exercise in 2025.
According to a statement by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Coulson Osoikhia, said the vaccination exercise is targeting children aged 0 to 5 years and will take place from June 28th to July 3rd, 2025.
He said the vaccination teams will visit homes, schools, churches, mosques, and other community structures to administer two drops of the Oral Polio Vaccine to eligible children.
He added that polio vaccine, other routine vaccines will be available at Primary Healthcare Centres across the state.
“Parents and guardians are urged to take their eligible children to the nearest Primary Healthcare Centre for vaccination.
The state government emphasizes the importance of immunization in preventing polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases.
“The ultimate goal is to keep polio at zero in Edo State, and the government is counting on the cooperation of parents and guardians to achieve this objective.
“By working together, the state aims to ensure that no child is left behind in the fight against polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases.
“This vaccination exercise is a crucial step in protecting the health and well-being of children in Edo State, and it is expected to make a significant impact in the state’s efforts to eradicate polio”.
