As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2026 local government elections, a frontline aspirant for Etsako Central Local Government Area on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Engr. Goodluck Momodu has said his aspiration is driven by a genuine desire to serve the people rather than the pursuit of political power.
Momodu, a grassroots politician widely regarded as being in the good books of leaders within the locality, said leadership must be defined by service, compassion and commitment to improving the lives of the people.
Speaking during to newsmen during interactions with community members and party supporters across the council area, the Engineer-turned-politician said his political journey has always been guided by the belief that leadership should uplift lives and strengthen communities.
“For me, leadership is not about occupying positions or chasing power. It is about service, responsibility and the opportunity to uplift our people. My aspiration is rooted in a deep commitment to the welfare and progress of Etsako Central.”
He noted that over the years he has remained actively involved in grassroots mobilization and party development, contributing to the growth and strengthening of the APC structure in Etsako Central.
Momodu added that his engagement with communities across the local government from rural farming settlements to town centres has given him a deeper understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people.
“I have always believed that the strength of leadership lies in being close to the people. When you listen to them, when you understand their struggles and hopes, you are better positioned to provide solutions that truly matter.”
The aspirant further emphasized his commitment to youth empowerment, women inclusion and the welfare of the elderly, noting that sustainable development must be people-driven and inclusive.
“Our youths deserve opportunities, our women deserve inclusion and our elders deserve dignity. These are the values that guide my vision for Etsako Central.”
Political observers in the area say Momodu’s growing acceptance among youths, women and community leaders has positioned him as a formidable figure in the emerging political contest.
Many residents believe his grassroots presence, accessibility and emphasis on community-driven development distinguish him from other aspirants preparing for the race.
“Politics should not be about personal gain,” Momodu added. “It should be about building a future where every community in Etsako Central can thrive. That is the vision I stand for.”
