Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State and the deputy chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Sylvester Aigboboh, have called on party members to remain united and continue supporting the administration in order to secure victory in the forthcoming local government elections and the 2027 general elections.
The duo made the call on Thursday during an interactive meeting with APC leaders, stakeholders, support groups and party faithful from Edo Central Senatorial District held at the governor’s residence and the Okaijesan Town Hall in Irrua.
The engagement, which brought together APC candidates for the July 11, 2026 local government election and 51 councillorship candidates across the five local government areas in Edo Central, was aimed at strengthening party cohesion and mobilising support for future electoral contests.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Okpebholo stressed the need for party members to close ranks and work collectively for the success of the APC, noting that unity remained the party’s greatest strength.

According to him, sustaining the party’s dominance in Edo State requires commitment, sacrifice and cooperation among members at all levels.
“Politics is all about give and take. This is the time for us to tell ourselves the truth and work together as one family. Seeing everyone here today shows that the party is united and ready for greater victories ahead,” the governor said.
Okpebholo urged party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the local government elections and the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the APC would record overwhelming victories.
Also speaking, APC deputy state chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh, appealed to members to remain steadfast and continue supporting the administration of Governor Okpebholo.
He said retaining political leadership was essential to sustaining the developmental strides being recorded across key sectors of the Edo economy.
Aigboboh noted that the gains achieved by the APC-led government could only be consolidated if party members remained united and committed to delivering electoral victories for the party.
He urged stakeholders to avoid actions capable of creating divisions within the party and instead focus on strengthening its structures across the state.
The meeting was attended by top APC leaders, including Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor; senatorial leader, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd); former Speakers of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Thomas Okosun, Rt. Hon. Justin Okonoboh and Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror; former Senator Clifford Ordia, among others.
The governor also met separately with members of the Esan Central Bike/Keke Riders Association, Edo Women Ambassadors for Renewed Hope Agenda (EWARHA), Edo Central chapter, and members of the Arewa community, where he solicited continued support for the APC and its programmes.
