Renowned legal practitioner and Principal Partner of Samson Ima-Osagie & Associates, Dr. Samson Raphael Osagie, Ph.D has been invited to serve as a panelist at the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), where he will speak on the critical subject of sovereign wealth and its role in Nigeria’s long-term economic development.
The conference is scheduled to hold from August 21 to 28, 2026, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekehia, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In an invitation signed by the Chairman of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC), Abdul Mohammed, SAN, and the Secretary, Barbara Omosun, the NBA described Osagie as one of the distinguished speakers selected for this year’s conference, themed “Beyond Limits.”
The organisers said the event would bring together jurists, policymakers, business leaders and industry experts to examine critical national and global issues, including economic growth, legal sector advancement, trade development, foreign exchange regulation and global competitiveness.
According to the organisers, Osagie will participate as a panelist in a session titled “Sovereign Wealth,” which will explore how sovereign wealth funds and strategic investments can be leveraged to promote sustainable economic growth, finance critical infrastructure, attract investment and strengthen economic resilience.
“As Nigeria seeks to diversify its economy and secure sustainable growth, strategic investment decisions have become more important than ever,” the invitation stated.
The NBA further noted that the session would foster meaningful dialogue on the legal, policy and governance frameworks required to support effective investment strategies, while exploring practical pathways for securing lasting prosperity for future generations.
The conference will also feature a keynote address by former Liberian President George Weah, alongside several high-profile speakers from Nigeria and abroad.
The invitation reaffirmed the association’s confidence in Osagie’s expertise and expressed optimism that his contribution would enrich discussions on strategic national investment and economic transformation.
Beyond the technical sessions, participants are also expected to engage in professional networking, peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, social justice discussions and a series of entertainment and interactive programmes throughout the week-long conference.
