Architect Sonny Echono’s Courtesy Visit To The Oni of Ife

On October 9, 2024, Architect Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), paid a courtesy visit to the Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. 

The visit underscores the commitment of TETFund to engage with traditional leaders in promoting educational development across Nigeria.

The primary aim of Echono’s visit was to discuss collaborative efforts in enhancing educational infrastructure and funding within the region. 

Recognizing the pivotal role of education in societal advancement, Echono sought the Oni’s support in championing educational initiatives that align with cultural and community values.

During the meeting, several important topics were addressed:

1. Educational Infrastructure Development: Echono shared TETFund’s vision for improving educational facilities, emphasizing the need for investments that reflect local heritage and support sustainable development. 

2. ⁠2.Community Engagement:The discussions highlighted the importance of involving community leaders in educational planning. Echono advocated for programs that resonate with local needs, ensuring that educational initiatives foster community development.

3.Support for Youth Programs: Echono and the Oni explored strategies to empower youth through education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship, aiming to equip the younger generation with skills for the future in line the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.

Oba Ogunwusi warmly welcomed Echono and expressed his support for TETFund’s initiatives. He reiterated the significance of education as a cornerstone for progress and offered his palace as a platform for mobilizing community support for educational projects. 

The Oni emphasized the need to preserve cultural values while pursuing modern educational goals.
