Nasarawa Amazons Football Club has qualified for the finals of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) after a penalty shoot-out, on Monday.
The match took place at the University of Benin Sports Complex in Benin City.
The twelve-day tournament, in its fourth edition, started on October 6, 2024, and will run through October 17, 2023.
In a competitive semi-final match, Nasarawa Amazons defeated the defending champions, Edo Queens to sail through to the finals after a penalty shoot-out which ended 6-7.
The game entered penalty after the 90 minutes of play which ended in a 2-2 draw.
At the same match venue, the semi-final match between Bayelsa Queens and Heartland Queens ended 2-0 after 90 minutes of play in favour of the Bayelsa Queens.
The internationally acclaimed FIFA-accredited tournament is a brainchild of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki.
A seminar on the theme of this year’s edition, “Say No to Teenage Pregnancy and Child Motherhood,” is billed to hold tomorrow, October 14, 2024, as part of events lined up for the tournament.
The event is expected to attract all first ladies from the 36 States of the Federation.
