National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Omorede Osifo, has predicted that the candidate of the party in the next Saturday governorship election in the state “will do greater things than Oshiomhole did.”
She added that Okpeboholo’s empathy and love to uplift the standard of living of Edolites is inspiring adding that on Saturday Edo will vote massively for him.
She was speaking on the sideline of the Educational Grants and Women Empowerment Programme, that she co-organized with Amb. Western Iyamu, the Convener, Diaspora Friends of Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa on Monday.
Said Osifo, “our inspiration is that we have an incoming governor who believes in what we’re doing. When he was talking he said those things that we’re doing today are all part of his agenda. Education is one of key agendas. We should do something on education. We should help children go back to school.
“We help them, we help their parents in taking care of things. Any amount that comes to any father and mother is something to add to take care of many things for the parents. That was the inspiration leading to this programme. Also we feel that our women too need to eat. They need food in the house.
“We’re confident of victory because we have a good material, we have a governor that we know is going to go out there. If Oshiomhole do great things Akpakomiza (Senator Monday Okpebholo) will do greater things than Oshiomhole did. He is compassionate.”
Going further, she asserted: “Here’s somebody that feels for the people. We know his background. He wants to come and help. We want to ensure that that kind of man become the governor of Edo State. In the last few years what we have had is somebody who doesn’t have compassion for the people of Edo State.
“We don’t need somebody that’s too arrogant. We need somebody that the masses can relate with. We have seen that man. So why don’t we work to make sure we win?
In his own submission, Amb. Western Iyamu said: “We thought it wise that we should not follow the traditional ways of politics because we’re in the 21st century. So, the funds we raised instead of us using it to buy electioneering materials – face cap, T-Shirts etc. We converted it so that we can give it to people who really need it.”
