Edo Primary Healthcare Inaugurates Comm’tee To Tackle Stock Out In Drugs

In a bid to eliminated stock out in drug availability, the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDPHDA) Dr. Coulson Osoikhia, on Sunday Inaugurate Healthcare care Drug Revolving Fund Committee, (DRF). 

He also assured Edo people of Governor Monday Okphebholo’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare in the state remains sacrosanct. 

He added that  one of the Governor’s key priorities was to ensure availability of essential medicines and consumables at all primary healthcare facilities at an affordable cost to make life easier for Edo people.

Osoikhia spoke when he inaugurated the Primary Healthcare Drug Revolving Fund Committee (DRF).

He charged the newly inaugurated committee to plan thoroughly and put measures in place to ensure successful implementation and sustainability of the DRF program.

Director, Essential Drugs and Logistics, Pharmacist Eruaga Valentine, who presented an overview of the DRF initiative said it was important to have essential medicines and commodities at the Primary Healthcare facilities.

He said, “The DRF will eliminate frequent stockouts at our facilities through a revolving drug supply system as well as reduce out-of-pocket expenses for patients”.

He also noted that the committee would play a key role to shaping the framework of the program as well as ensuring compliance, and conducting regular reviews.

Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics Dr. Marvelson Obasogie, emphasized the need to digitalize DRF operations for better efficiency across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State.

He also recommended the decentralization of drug stores along senatorial districts to enhance accessibility and coverage.

The DRF Committee Members included
Dr. Coulson Oahimire Osoikhia as Chairman while Mrs. Nosakhare Adole-Orokpo would serve as Secretary.

Others are Pharmacist Eruaga Valentine – Program Manager, Pharmacist Edo Silvanus, Dr. Marvelson Obasogie Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, Mr. Cosmas Okeigbemen Mrs. Edith Idehen, Miss. Nelly Odiakaose, Mrs. Osatohanmwen Ogbebor-Nwadialo, Mrs. Nene Olaye, Mr. Victor Obasuyi,  Mrs Faith Egharevba Uhunamure and Miss MaryJane Timothy.
