It was a shocking revelation on Monday as Leaders of Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality in Delta State revealed what they described as alleged fraudulent attempt by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to robbed them of what belongs to them in the proposed delineation of wards and polling units in Warri Federal Constituency.
The revealation came at a press conference beamed live on National Televisions where a slide display using google map to expose alleged INEC bias in allocating wards and polling units outside Delta State and as far as Edo and Ondo states to favor the Ijaws and Urhobo’s communities in the delineation by bloated wards and units.
In the presentation, a Geo-data expert, Mr Bright Omaghomi and Mrs Tsaye Edeyibo mene relying on coordinate pointed out that the document containing lists of wards and unit as provided by INEC does not support reality on ground as fictitous wards and units from other areas and states were smuggled into INEC certified document to hoodwink the public.
They further argued that the indigenous Ijaw and Urhobo people of Warri Federal Constituency claim do not align with facts of history and making demands which are unjust and lacked the attributes to equity .
“We consider it a severe disservice on our part if we do not present the facts for the benefit of the discerning public who, undoubtedly, love righteousness and equity.
“Such that one would therefore not be misled to unwittingly draw the wrong conclusions that could lead to some injustice, whether of opinions and/or actions which could have been drawn from defective exactitude.
Meanwhile, a communique at the end of the Press conference held in Preston Royal Event Centre, Warri, Warri South Local Government Area on Monday, and presented by Chief Brown Mene on behalf of Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality, noted that the people are not against the Supreme Court judgement but they demand fairness, equity, and justice from INEC in this regard.
According to the communique, there is much biasness and illegality that are associated with execution of the said judgment which revealed, going by the co-ordinates, the polling units and wards that are created by INEC do not correspondent with the actual location on ground.
In the communique, Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality called on the Federal Government to set up an Independent commission of inquiry to prove the action of INEC on the redelineation exercise that it created fathom polling units and wards in Federal Constituency.
Part of the communique reads:” As law abiding citizens, we are not against the execution of Supreme Court order on the redelineation of Warri Federal Constituency Polling Units, Wards, we demand fairness, equity and justice from INEC”
“We reject the proposal of April 4, 2025 on Polling Units and wards delineation in its entity”.
In the communique, the people also demand that after the thorough investigation,any of the officers found wanting in the entire exercise should be disciplined to serve as deterent to others.
The communique also added: At the end of the Commission of inquiry, INEC officials and other office holders found culpable in INEC shrouds regarded as Polling Units and Wards redelineation of Warri Federal Constituency should be appropriately punished to act as deterrent to others with the intention of similar course of action”
The people also demand the immediate implementation of all judicial decisions in Warri Federal Constituency including the court of appeal judgement on the 10- ward structure of Warri South Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the people are optimistic that if the Federal Government can do the needful, justice would have been served.
The press conference was attended by many Illustrious sons and daughters of the Iwere land including former Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Vincent Uduaghan, among others.
