In up holding Justice , fairness, Governor of Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has recalled his Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon Samson Osagie.
A letter to Osagie by the Secretary to State Government (SSG) Umar Ikhilor, Esq. marked SGA. 15/NOL.XV111/215 and dated March 12,2025 released around 8:15 pm, read that “Having considered the report of the Investigative Panel set up by Government to investigate allegations of financial infractions reported against you, which has exonerated you from the said allegations, I write to convey the directive of the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo that you resume duties as the State Hon.Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice with effect from 12th March, 2025.”
Reacting to the recall, by Governor Okpebholo as uncommon display of statesmanship and thanked the governor for his monumental gesture.
Osagie said, “In an uncommon display of statesmanship, His Excellency Governor Monday Okpebholo has by a letter dated 12th of March 2025, recalled me from suspension following my exoneration from allegations of grave official and financial infractions.
“I therefore wish to, in a most profound way thank His Excellency the Governor of Edo State for this singular,yet monumental gesture of upholding truth, justice and fairness.
“With this development, I am enamoured to rededicate myself to the ideals of practical governance which is the fulcrum of the administration of His Excellency, and to ensure that the Edo State Ministry of Justice continues to pursue its statutory mandate of providing Legal services to Government and its agencies/ institutions.
“It should be noted however, that in the course of the inquiries, a lot of lessons have been learnt and with the forthrightness of His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, Edo people can only continue to hope for Justice, truth and fairness in all aspects of governance”.
