Ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections, the Edo South Senatorial candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Sunny Aguebor, popularly known as Bibi, has pledged to prioritise economic empowerment, improved social services and inclusive development if elected to represent the district in the Senate.

Aguebor made the promise while receiving party chairmen from the seven local government areas and wards that make up Edo South Senatorial District, where he thanked party leaders and members for supporting his emergence as the party’s candidate.

He said his aspiration was driven by the need to provide effective representation and address the concerns of the people, stressing that the mandate he seeks is about service and delivering measurable results.

“This is not just about me; it is about the hopes and aspirations of our people. You are sending me on a journey that will be defined by commitment, courage, and results. I am inspired by this mission,” Aguebor said.

The businessman and founder of the Bibi brand, with interests in hospitality, petroleum products distribution and real estate, promised to use his position as a senator to attract development projects and create more opportunities for residents across the district.

He listed healthcare improvement, road rehabilitation, educational support, scholarships and vocational training programmes among the areas he would focus on, with the aim of tackling youth unemployment and improving living standards.

On healthcare, Aguebor said he would pursue legislative interventions and partnerships to expand access to medical services, support outreach programmes and provide assistance to vulnerable communities.

“My journey to the National Assembly will be about delivering honest representation focused on expanding economic opportunities, strengthening education, improving healthcare access, and ensuring that every community in Edo South feels the impact of responsive governance,” he said.

The NDC candidate assured constituents of an open and accountable leadership style, promising to remain accessible and committed to protecting their interests.

“I will continue to be your voice—strong, fearless, and committed to justice and fairness. Together, we will build an Edo South that works for all,” he added.

Aguebor also thanked party members and supporters for their confidence, saying his ambition was not motivated by personal gains but by a desire to serve the people.

“But for you all who said yes, I would not have taken this step towards the 2027 Edo South Senatorial election. You believe in my capacity. You know that I am not seeking your mandate to own a house, marry a wife, or buy a car. I am already comfortable. I thank you for understanding the depth of my purpose,” he said.

He described the support from party members as a commitment to a shared vision of a better future for Edo South, promising to work with stakeholders to achieve victory in the 2027 election.
