This is to clear the air regarding the trending report on the VDM page alleging that the Governor of Benue State purchased Prado vehicles for members of the House of Assembly without making full payment.

For the record, the arrangement for the purchase and delivery of the vehicles was made under the leadership of the former Speaker of the House of Assembly, who resigned barely two weeks ago. At the time of his resignation, full payment had not yet been completed. The new Speaker, who only recently assumed office, cannot reasonably be expected to immediately assume responsibility for contracts entered into by his predecessor without first reviewing the relevant files and documents. Unfortunately, this process was not allowed to take its natural course before the contractors hastily took the matter to social media platforms.

We, the citizens of Benue State, wish to state clearly that His Excellency, the Governor, is not in the habit of defaulting on obligations. This has been demonstrated through his commitment to settling debts inherited from past administrations. Had this matter been formally brought before him, it would no doubt have been resolved to a logical conclusion.

Therefore, any attempt to use this issue to tarnish the image of the State or of the present administration is misplaced and will not succeed. The people of Benue State stand firmly with the Governor, having entrusted him with their mandate and confidence.
