As political activities gather momentum ahead of party primaries in Edo State, stakeholders in Etsako Federal Constituency are increasingly rallying around Hon. Johnson Egwakhide Oghuma, whose track record and grassroots connection continue to shape the conversation within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Widely regarded as an experienced legislator, Oghuma is not new to the terrain of representation. Having previously served the constituency, he is seen by many as a candidate who understands both the legislative process in Abuja and the practical needs of his people at home.

Supporters argued that his familiarity with governance places him in a strong position to deliver tangible results if given the party’s ticket.

Beyond experience, Oghuma’s political profile is anchored on what allies describe as tested courage and consistency.

During critical moments in the constituency’s political history, he is credited with standing firm in defence of local interests, earning him a reputation as a dependable voice.

His commitment to accessibility also features prominently in his appeal. Constituents recall a style of representation marked by openness, where engagement did not end with elections.

This, observers say, aligns with growing demands for accountable leadership and continuous interaction between elected officials and the electorate.

Central to his renewed ambition is a development-focused agenda. Oghuma has pledged to prioritize job-creating legislation, improved infrastructure across wards, and inclusive empowerment programmes targeting youths and women.

Of particular note is the push to complete and equip the skill acquisition centre in Auchi, an initiative seen as critical to boosting local enterprise and reducing unemployment.

As APC leaders weigh their options, many within Etsako believe the choice ultimately comes down to credibility, capacity, and connection with the people qualities they say Oghuma embodies.
