Supporters of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu have expressed confidence in the growing strength of his bid for the Edo South Senatorial seat, describing his campaign as resilient and steadily gaining momentum despite internal political opposition.
In a joint statement signed by Hon. Edokpolor Wilfred Ogbemudia and Deaconess Faith Uwadia Usifo, the former Secretary to the Edo State Government was portrayed as a focused and experienced political figure whose campaign is anchored on grassroots engagement, policy direction, and long-standing relationships across the district.
The statement highlighted Ize-Iyamu’s extensive political background, including his roles as Chief of Staff and a two-time governorship candidate, noting that his experience has positioned him as a “bridge-builder” with deep insight into both executive and legislative processes.
According to his supporters, the Senate ambition is built on key priorities such as youth employment, agricultural development, small business support, and infrastructure improvements, particularly in port access and connectivity across Edo South’s seven local government areas.
They also pointed to what they described as increasing endorsements from political stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, and market associations.
Meetings held in Benin City and other parts of the district were said to have attracted broad participation across different demographics.
The statement further noted that opposition within political circles has not weakened the campaign but instead contributed to its growth, with some former critics joining the movement and endorsing Ize-Iyamu’s candidacy.
Supporters emphasized that his campaign strategy has focused on structured engagement and policy discussions rather than public disputes, presenting this approach as a sign of stability and maturity in leadership.
They added that “Key leaders across Oredo, Egor, Ikpoba-Okha, Ovia North East, Ovia South West, Orhionmwon, and Uhunmwonde have aligned with him. Women leaders and youth coalitions describe him as a symbol of competence and continuity, while recent meetings in Benin City have drawn diverse crowds cutting across age groups and political affiliations.”
The supporters asserted, “Market associations, student groups, traditional institutions, and faith communities point to his accessibility and track record of intervention. That goodwill has translated into strong volunteer networks across Edo South. He stands tall because the people are holding him up—much like the biblical account of Aaron and Hur supporting Moses, ensuring victory for Israel.”
“Each wave of pushback from rival camps has been met with stronger endorsements and notable defections. Elders who once remained neutral are now speaking out, and former critics have begun canvassing support. The narrative is steadily shifting in his favour,” they concluded.
