Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, has expressed profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences to Senator Rowland Owie, former Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, on the passing of his beloved wife, Lady Helen Owie (LSJI), who departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the age of 71.
In a statement, Senator Imasuen paid tribute to Lady Helen’s remarkable legacy of compassion, dignity, and quiet strength:
“I received the news of Lady Helen Owie’s passing with immense sadness. My heart goes out to my dear elder and leader, Senator Rowland Owie, who has lost not only a wife but a lifelong companion, friend, and soulmate. For over five decades, Lady Helen stood as a steadfast pillar beside him, building a home that radiated warmth, honour, and grace.
“Her life was one of silent service and unwavering faith. She was a woman of deep humility, devotion, and strength—a nurturing matriarch who brought unity and compassion to all who knew her. In Senator Owie’s own words, she made their home a sanctuary, embraced his family with love, and carried herself with a rare, gentle dignity.”
Senator Imasuen noted that Lady Helen’s legacy will be remembered for generations to come not only for the strength of her character but for the grace with which she lived and served.
“Lady Helen was truly the heartbeat of her family—a God-fearing woman whose reverence for the Blessed Virgin Mary was evident in the serenity and love she radiated. Her departure is a painful loss not only to her family but to all who encountered her quiet light.
